Tottenham target and Porto striker Mehdi Taremi is a subject of interest for Inter and AC Milan
As per a tweet from Portuguese correspondent Pedro Sepuldeva, Italian giants Inter Milan and AC Milan are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur target Mehdi Taremi from Porto.
Italian correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that the Portuguese club won’t sell the Iranian international for less than €30m. Spurs made an initial offer of €24m.
Earlier in the summer window, there were updates that Manchester United are interested in signing Taremi. They have now gone on and signed Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta weeks after dropping their interest in Spurs’ talisman Harry Kane.
The idea behind potentially signing Taremi could be that Kane is about to leave in the coming days. Bayern Munich have made their last offer to sign the England star and are confident about getting this deal done.
Once that happens, Tottenham are compelled to sign a like-for-like replacement. Although, with all due respect, Taremi is not of the same quality as Kane (which not many are in the world of football), he plays in the same position as the latter.
The Iranian international does have a good goal-scoring record for Porto. The 31-year-old has scored 80 goals and assisted 49 in 147 appearances in all competitions since arriving at the club from fellow Portuguese side Rio Ave three years ago
He is a striker who can operate on the left wing and as an attacking midfielder if required. Hence a good chunk of assist numbers in his Porto career so far.
His record for Iran is pretty decent as well with a goal every two games over the course of 66 appearances.
So, age aside, Taremi is a player with pedigree and experience of performing well at the highest of levels. He could be an adequate Kane replacement given the situation Tottenham could be put in if Kane leaves late in the window.
