Liverpool could lose their star man as Saudi Arabia attempt to bring Mohamed Salah to the Middle East.

Liverpool have been warned that Jurgen Klopp will not force Mohamed Salah to stay at the club if he wants to leave for a big-money offer from Saudi Arabia. There have been rumours all summer linking the Egyptian with a move to the Middle East, which could be realised towards the end of the transfer window

Saudi outlet Riyadiyatv have claimed that Salah will complete a move to Al-Ittihad and Liverpool’s trip to St James’ Park on Sunday to face Newcastle will be his final game in a Reds shirt. The 31-year-old has been subject to a massive contract offer and the Merseysiders could receive over £79million from a potential sale.

The German boss has already denied rumours suggesting that Salah could leave, but former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes that Klopp will not stand in his star man’s way if the Egyptian forward wants to move. He has previously allowed stars such as Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho to depart Anfield and gave the green light for Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to play in the Saudi Pro League.

“Ultimately it’ll be the player’s decision,” Murphy wrote in the Daily Mail. “If Salah really is set on being the poster boy in an Arab country, I don’t see how it will make business sense for Liverpool to turn down £100million for a 31-year-old who is going to be unhappy.

Jurgen Klopp strikes me as a similar type to Pep Guardiola: they regard their club as bigger than any player and wouldn’t want to force someone into staying. On the pitch, though, it would be a huge blow, particularly in the short term. Salah has a history of scoring lots of goals, and important ones as well.”
