Brennan Johnson has revealed he will finally wear the shirt number he wanted at Nottingham Forest with new club Tottenham.
The striker will don the No.22 shirt at Spurs, having joined the London club from Forest for £47.5m on transfer deadline day
He was unable to continue wearing the No.20 shirt he was given at Forest because Tottenham back-up goalkeeper Fraser Forster is in possession of it.
But Johnson has revealed he had wanted to wear No.22 for the Reds only for Ryan Yates to have already taken it.
“To be honest when I was at Forest when I first got No.20, I did want No.22 there and one of the boys had it,” he said.
“I like the number and I think it’s a nice, clean looking number.
Having signed a six-year deal with Spurs, Johnson could make his debut for his new club when Premier League action returns after the international break and Tottenham face Sheffield United on September 16.
That match is followed by the North London derby with Arsenal on September 24.
“The derby. It’s coming up as well, so that’s one that will be surreal for me,” said Johnson when speaking in a video on SPURSPLAY . “It’s not a long time after (the international break). It’ll feel crazy but I’m ready for it.
