Latest Nottingham Forest news as Matt Turner talks about his transfer from Arsenal this summer
Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner has spoken about how he has settled in to life in the East Midlands – and why the time was right to make the move from Arsenal.
Turner joined Forest during the summer transfer window in a permanent move from Arsenal, penning a four-year contract at the City Ground. His arrival came as a move for ex-loanee Dean Henderson ultimately failed, with the stopper joining Crystal Palace instead.
Competition did arrive for Turner, though, with Greek goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos arriving from Benfica on deadline day last week. While discussing his move to Forest, Turner also spoke about having competition in the Premier League.
“I feel like I’ve adapted pretty well to the move ,” Turner told Goal. “I’m excited to have had the opportunity to be there and play games and compete. I think it’s easy to get into the mode where you’re comfortable not competing and just collecting your pay check and showing up for work and I think the reason I fell in love with the game was that competition element of it all.
