Praise for Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier vs Millwall
Former Leeds defender Jon Newsome was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds.
And he was impressed with 23-year-old goalkeeper Illan Meslier.
Newsome said on BBC Radio Leeds: “I thought Meslier was great today.
“I thought there were times when he came and exposed himself and came and took crosses, and that takes the pressure off your back-four when the keeper is coming out and collecting crosses.
Illan Meslier performance review
In our view, Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier played well against Millwall away from home in the Championship today.
Leeds were the better team and deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter.
And Daniel Farke’s side kept a clean sheet.
One of the big reasons why Leeds did not concede a single goal was because of Meslier.
The Frenchman made some important saves when he had to and looked very comfortable and confident with his ball distribution.
Meslier did not have the best of times last season as Leeds got relegated from the Premier League, but the 23-year-old will play a big role for the Whites in their quest to win promotion from the Championship this campaign.
