The newspaper shared via their website on 26 September that any prospective owner would be required to deal with the club’s existing debt, as well as having the finances required to fund the running of a Championship club.
There are hopes that a deal can be reached with a new owner before the end of the year, with Miles telling fans he is now working alongside WBA Group director Xu Ke on the sale of the club.
Everything surrounding West Brom recently, particularly in terms of the ownership and running of the club, feels like it has been dark and uninspiring. This news, though, will allow Baggies fans to see that there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel.
Miles confirmed the update to fans at a meeting with the Action For Albion campaign group earlier this week, and his personal involvement in the deal will be more positive news to Baggies fans who had been worried about who was overseeing the potential sale.
If the new owners do arrive before the turn of the year as has been suggested, it will ease the demand to sell first-team players in order to help finance the club and help pay off debts, which would almost certainly be the case under the current ownership.
This news comes just days after talkSPORT host Simon Jordan claimed that any prospective buyer would be able to turn West Brom into a £200million club with the right investment [20 September], giving fans plenty of hope and a vision for the future.
