Hwang Hee-Chan has been immense for Wolves so far this season in the Premier League.
Wolves’ South Korean forward Hwang Hee-Chan has already equalled his best-ever Premier League goal-scoring tally this season.
Five league goals and one in the Carabao Cup have seen Hwang become one of the first names on the team-sheet with Gary O’Neil describing him as ‘excellent’.
Scoring in his last four games at Molineux, Hwang is on the verge of equalising a Wolves record, which currently stands at five consecutive home games.
This isn’t the only impressive stat which Hwang has established this season as he becomes one of Wolves’ most important players.
A recent study by The Athletic learned that Hwang is the league’s most clinical player.
“On the positive side of things, no player has enjoyed a more clinical start to the season than Wolves’ Hwang Hee-chan, having scored five goals — 55.6 per cent of his team’s total this season — from an xG of just 1.2, representing an overperformance of 3.8
This massive overperformance of expected goals doesn’t exactly bode well for the remainder of the season as it can be somewhat unsustainable.
Wolves will need to improve their attack and put him in more positions to score high xG goals in order for their £30k-per-week star to keep adding to his tally.
Who do Wolves play next?
Next up this Saturday sees Wolves head to the south coast as they take on Bournemouth at the Vitality.
Wolves have the opportunity to extend their unbeaten run to three with a win or draw here.
With a home game against Newcastle next weekend, Wolves will be hoping to not only pick up more points but see Hwang equal the record.
Newcastle could of course be suffering from a European hangover for that game.
