Miami Heat’s Tyler Herro led the team to a victory in their first in-season tournament game against the Washington Wizards.
Herro recorded 24 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists on 52.9 percent shooting. For the fifth straight game, he is Miami’s leading scorer. Herro came up only one assist short of his second career triple double against the Wizards.
“Yeah, I was aware of it; my teammates were trying to help me get that last assist. Obviously, we play to win. You know, we had the lead big, and I think, more importantly, just closing out the game,” Herro said. “I wasn’t just tryna get my tenth assist; I’ll get a triple double at some point if it happens, if not, we’ll take the win.
Herro is a part of an exclusive group this season as one of three players to record more than 150 points, 30 assists, and 30 rebounds this season. The other players in this club are superstars Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic.
Herro is on his way to receiving an All-Star nod if he proceeds at this level of play. He is proving his worth as the number one option and maybe even the Most Improved Player.
