Leeds United have been dealt a blow after Liam Cooper was forced off with a potential hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw with Rotherham, Daniel Farke has confirmed.
The Whites dropped two points on the road on Friday night, with the captain substituted in the second half having been feeling his hamstring in the minutes before the change.
And Farke confirmed he was suffering with cramp and a “slight” hamstring problem, but he will be assessed ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Swansea to see if he will be available.
He also felt a little bit in his hamstring. We have to assess him, so it could be that there’s a slight injury. I hope it’s just a cramp, hope to have him available on Wednesday but we need to wait for further assessment.
That’s a blow for Farke, because it finally looked like he was going to be ready to have a near full strength squad to choose from.
After Pascal Struijk suffered a hernia problem and underwent surgery, he made a quick recovery and returned to the bench for Friday night’s game and it was him that replaced Cooper.
Should the skipper not be available for Wednesday’s game with Swansea then you would assume that it would be Struijk to come back into the side, while Charlie Cresswell is also available and could step in.
But Cooper is the leader of this squad and his performances this season have been pretty good, so it would be a big miss for Leeds to be without him.
Hopefully it was more cramp than a hamstring tweak and he will be fine, which gives Farke the choice of which partnership to go with at Elland Road, and the squad can stay strong.
