Shintaro Fujinami is set to join his third team in two seasons, as the Japanese relief pitcher reportedly inked a one-year deal with the New York Mets on Friday.
The New York Mets have signed relief pitcher Shintaro Fujinami to a one-year deal, The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reported Friday.
Fujinami will reportedly have a base salary of $3.35 million for 2024. He will also have $850K available in incentives, bringing the maximum value of his contract to $4.2 million.
The 6-foot-6, 29-year-old right-hander came over from Japan in 2023, signing with the Oakland Athletics last offseason for $3.25 million. The A’s traded Fujinami to the Baltimore Orioles in July.
