Nottingham Forest has used nine different center backs since being promoted back to the Premier League in 2022, and the City Ground team has still not settled on a consistent lineup.
The Reds’ defense has been led by players like Steve Cook, Scott McKenna, and Guilian Biancone, all of whom have left in recent months as the team looks to reduce the size of its playing roster at the City Ground.
After paying £15 million to join Forest from Corinthians in the summer of last year, Murillo has been a constant at the back for the Reds ever since making his Premier League debut against Brentford in October of the previous year. Although the 21-year-old Brazilian has started 18 straight league games, he has frequently played with a different center-back partner in the majority of his club appearances.
Either Moussa Niakhate or Willy Boly partnered with Murillo prior to the current African Cup of Nations, with the latter missing the last six weeks because of the competition and an unfair dismissal against Bournemouth.
Besiktas moves Joe Worrall
Joe Worrall, an academy graduate, has also appeared for the Reds at the back since his promotion. Following his 2016 professional debut for Forest, the 27-year-old has made 227 appearances for the team that he grew up playing for.
Worrall made 30 Premier League appearances for Forest last season, but under former manager Steve Cooper, he lost ground and only made two appearances under new head coach Nuno EspÃrito Santo.
During the January transfer window, the defender was linked to a move away from the City Ground. Sheffield United and Leeds United were both interested in signing the former Rangers loanee for a full season on loan.
