The Miami Heat have the assets to make a splash before Thursday’s trade deadline, but satisfaction with their current lineup could prevent that.
Despite this, Heat guard Tyler Herro continues his reputation as a trade piece across social media leading up to the Feb. 8 deadline. The latest is a proposed deal by sports media personality Bill Simmons. He created a trade that would send Herro and a first-round pick to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for veteran DeMar DeRozan and guard Alex Caruso.
“I’m going to throw a couple fake trades into this podcast. I want to see Miami get Tyler Herro and an unprotected first to Chicago and get back [DeMar] DeRozan and [Alex] Caruso…Miami just goes all in. They use the Herro chip,” Simmons said on ‘The Bill Simmons Podcast’. “They use an unprotected first. Maybe they have to throw [Nikola] Jović in that. I don’t know what the value of DeRozan and Caruso together is. They keep [Terry] Rozier. They have [Jimmy] Butler, [Jaime] Jaquez, Caleb Martin, Bam [Adebayo]—keep going and going. That’s a trade that would scare me as a Celtics fan.”
