The 24-year-old star of Kaizer Chiefs was shot and killed last week during a carjacking at a Johannesburg gas station.
The six suspects were apprehended in Soweto on Wednesday morning, according to a police statement.
The accused, according to the police, “are part of a syndicate that is responsible for car hijackings” in the province of Gauteng.
More suspects are still being actively sought for by investigators.
On Monday, police announced that they had found the footballer’s stripped automobile.
At the gas station, Fleurs was waiting to be helped when someone approached him.
He was then shot once in the upper torso, according to the police, by one of the accused.
One of the most well-liked teams in South Africa and a 12-time league champion, Kaizer Chiefs, called his passing “tragic.”
Fleurs played for SuperSport United before joining Kaizer Chiefs in the previous season.
At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, the former Under-23 international competed on behalf of South Africa.
Zizi Kodwa, the minister of sports, expressed his sadness at “yet another life cut short due to violent crime.”
On Friday, the suspects are anticipated to appear in court.
