Oklahoma continued it 2025 recruiting roll on Saturday with a commitment from four-star safety Omarion Robinson.
The 6-foot, 171-pound defensive back becomes the 21st commitment in the Sooners 2025 recruiting class and the ninth defensive player.
Robinson, who hails from Little Rock, chose Oklahoma over offers from home state Arkansas, Oregon and LSU. He is ranked as the No. 26 safety in the class and the No. 2 player in the state of Arkansas. The talented back-end defender has been on Oklahoma’s 2025 radar right from the beginning. OU extended a scholarship offer to him in January 2023.
Head coach Brent Venables and defensive backs coach Brandon Hall considered Robinson one of the Sooners primary defensive targets and on Saturday they completed the task. Robinson is one of four safeties in OU’s 2025 class.
Four-star prospects Marcus Wimberly and Trynae Washington, although Washington is listed as an athlete, and three-star safety prospect Courtland Guillory are the other three. Wimbery is also from Arkansas. The class also includes two cornerbacks: Trystan Haines and Maliek Hawkins, brother of OU freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins. Haines is rated a four-star prospect by the 247 Composite, and Hawkins is a three-star recruit.
Robinson has the versatility and footwork to play multiple spots in the back end and is also reported to be unafraid to play physical, which is a key trait for the safety position. He was outstanding in the Rivals camp for five-star recruits, where he was voted defensive back MVP. He was also a MaxPreps Freshman All-America second-team selection.
of offensive lineman Darius Afalava on Friday. He becomes the 19th commitment to the Sooner’s 2025 recruiting class.
The 6-foot, 5-inch, 320-pound interior offensive lineman is rated a three-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite, but OU offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh believes Afalava is underrated by some analysts, and Rivals agrees with the Sooner assistant, rating him a four-star prospect, No. 25 at his position nationally and No. 1 in the state of Utah.
