Red Bull mistakes saw the Mexican driver fail to make it out of Q2
Sergio Perez (Red Bull), who will start the Las Vegas F1 Grand Prix from 11th on the grid, wasn’t all that happy with his team’s strategy in qualifying.
The Mexican noted they will have to “analyze” things after being eliminated in Q2, as he remained in the pits during the final minutes despite the track improving at that time.
There’s a lot to analyze, because from Q1 we were very committed to the program we had. We went out with a lot of traffic on our last lap and we were almost eliminated,” Perez told FOX Sports Mexico.
“In Q2 we finished very early. There were four minutes left in the session and we finished very early when the track was getting better. It was the decision we made at the end, it’s something we have to analyze.
Perez, however, is confident about his chances for the race.
“In the race we are stronger and tomorrow we have a chance, but starting 11th won’t be easy. I don’t think we had the pace to fight for the pole, because Ferrari was very solid, but in the race we will be more even,” he said.
