The Sooners Men’s basketball team was busy recruiting last week, sending out multiple offers to top talent.
Now, OU has a chance to make an impression on a three-star recruit out of the transfer portal. Kris Parker confirmed with 247Sports’ James D. Jackson that he will be visiting the Sooners on July 22 before a stop at Oklahoma State on July 24.
Parker was a composite four-star prospect out of high school and is listed as a three-star transfer by 247Sports. He has an 87 rating as a transfer prospect, the No. 402 overall player in the nation, and the No. 84 small forward. The 6-foot-9 small forward will have four years of eligibility.
Parker redshirted at Alabama this past season as the Crimson Tide reached their first Final Four in program history. Before Alabama, Parker was a dominant scorer for Quincy (Fla.) Crossroad Academy, as he averaged 24.8 points, 14.2 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 2.4 blocks per game during his senior year of high school. With his productivity, he led Crossroad Academy to a 2A District 1 title and earned the 2023 Florida Class 2A Player of the Year award. Along with Bama, he held offers from Missouri, Villanova, UCF, and others.
An eye injury during a practice sidelined Parker for the first couple of games of his college career. Ultimately, he decided to redshirt.
“He’s coming along,” Alabama coach Nate Oats said February 23 of Parker. “He can step into a game and help us right now, though. He’s put on a lot of weight. He’s gotten a lot better. He’s a much better defender. He’s using his athleticism. He’s becoming a better shooter — that’s the one area where he’s really got to work hard on in the offseason, but he has become better. But he’s getting better everyday in practice, and he’s a great kid.
Parker is now looking for a potential new home, which could be with his former teammate. Moser and company have a chance to land the second commit from Alabama after signing 6-foot-10 center Mohamed Wague out of the transfer portal. Parker has heard from multiple schools since entering the transfer portal on April 10, including SEC schools Kentucky and Ole Miss and in-state school Oklahoma State and Tulsa.
“After much consideration, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal and explore other opportunities,” Kris Parker wrote on his Instagram in April. “This year I learned and improved more than imaginable and for that I am extremely grateful to the Alabama staff, fans and community. The memories shared this year and Final Four run that was made is something I will always cherish forever. Thank you, and Roll Tide. “With all that being said, next season I look forward to playing and carrying the winning mentality to my next program.
