Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont (24) has been considered by several European outfits this summer, according to a report this Monday by Ouest-France. The 24-year-old has suffered a serious injury for Nantes’ opening-day 2-1 home loss against Toulouse. After a full force collision with Toulouse’s Zakaria Aboukhlal and his left post, the France international has sustained a fractured rib and an associated pneumothorax.
The outlet understands that Lafont was the subject of interest from other teams this summer. Nottingham Forest sought information regarding a potential deal with Nantes for their goalkeeper before eventually opting for Arsenal’s Matt Turner. Ajax Amsterdam were also interested following Geronimo Rulli’s serious elbow injury. Recently, Sevilla FC also made their interest known in the event that Yassine Bounou part ways with the Andalusians.
Lafont is entering his final year of contract with Les Canaris. However, Ouest-France reports that Nantes and the France international will enter into talks for a contract renewal. This means that Pierre Aristouy’s side are not expected to dip into the market for a goalkeeper. Back-up shot-stopper Rémy Descamps is due to fill in between the sticks during Lafont’s two-month spell on the sidelines.
