The Los Angeles Lakers, who are currently 19-19 on the season, are obviously not in a good place and clearly need reinforcements. They have already started looking for outside assistance, but nobody on the roster has been able to step up to provide it. Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka is expected to be active during the trade season, focusing on adding shooting and shot-creating, according to Lakers insider Jovan Buha.
“The offense end, more shooting, maybe another off-the-dribble scorer—because right now, it’s like, LeBron and AD are dropping 30 points every night and they’re still struggling—is the #1 need they [the Lakers] feel like they need to address before the deadline,” stated Buha.
Throughout the majority of LeBron James’ career, the Lakers have prioritized defense. They strengthened their stance on that strategy this summer when they signed Cam Reddish and Taurean Prince to play on the wings. However, given that everyone who isn’t LeBron James or Antony Davis is having trouble scoring, it can now be argued that the Lakers went too far in that direction.
