Nottingham Forest are holding more talks with the representatives of PSV midfielder Ibrahim Sangare ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline. The Reds still see the maestro as their number one target and hope a deal can be struck.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the midfielder could now move to the City Ground before tomorrow’s deadline. He was in action last night as PSV reached the Champions League group stages with a resounding win over Rangers.
Forest target Sangare has been a brilliant player for PSV. He signed for the club in 2020 from French outfit Toulouse and has made 140 appearances for the Eredivisie side who actually finished above Ajax in the league last season.
At 25-years-old, Sangare would be an investment in the future for Forest. He would give the player the steel in midfield that they perhaps lacked more often than not during the 2022/23 campaign when they toiled at times.
Forest have been linked with a number of players for the defensive midfield role in recent weeks. Florentino Luis and Wilfred Ndidi are two of them, with the 26-year-old currently a fallback option for the Reds.
This would be quite something if the Reds can pull this off. It seems as though PSV might be resigned to losing their influential midfield enforcer, with other targets lined up for them should Forest get Sangare over the line.
Forest have pursued the player all summer. It might seem as though this was an unrealistic target from the off in the eyes of some supporters; although it’s hard to imagine Forest taking it this far if they didn’t feel they could land him.
Sangare would just about put the cherry on the cake for this transfer window. It’s been an exciting week in the run-up to deadline day and perhaps the best is yet to come for Forest if they can get this one over the line.
