During his fantastic season on loan at Ipswich Town, Omari Hutchinson scored 10 goals and provided six assists to help the Tractor Boys secure second place in the Championship, which ultimately led to their promotion to the Premier League.
The 20-year-old started eleven of twelve games to finish the season, including the final nine on the run, despite potential new Chelsea head coach Kieran McKenna’s initial lack of confidence in the young player in crucial situations. The kid had multiple game-winning efforts off the bench.
Hutchinson’s parting letter to the club seemed to temper early hopes that he would return to Ipswich for the upcoming season as well, which has made rival teams aware of his possible availability.
The most notable of them is Vfb Stuttgart, who seem to have “set their sights” on the youthful winger and intend to sign him for a season-long loan. Borussia Mönchengladbach is reportedly interested as well, according to Sky Deutschland, while the Mirror adds Ajax (who finished fifth in the Eredivisie) and Feyenoord (runners-up) to the list of possible bidders. But in England’s top two divisions, I imagine Hutchinson would have plenty of teams wanting to accept him.
It’s unclear at all whether Chelsea would be on that list. With just a year remaining on his deal, Hutchinson—one of the approximately a million wingers already in the system—must sign an extension before any further loans are made.
