Alabama TE CJ Dippre provides outlook on Tide quarterback competition: ‘I think he’ll do really good things’
Former Alabama tight end CJ Dippre recently shared his insights on the Crimson Tide’s quarterback competition, expressing confidence in the team’s future under Coach Kalen DeBoer. Dippre, who is preparing for the NFL Draft, reflected on his time at Alabama and the program’s direction during interviews at the NFL Combine.
Discussing the transition from legendary coach Nick Saban to Kalen DeBoer, Dippre acknowledged the challenges inherent in such a change. He praised DeBoer’s efforts, stating, “Coach DeBoer did a very good job under the circumstances of coming [in after] Coach Saban. It’s really hard to step into such a successful, already traditional, good program, and take over.”
Despite a 9-4 record in DeBoer’s inaugural season—a performance some fans deemed below Alabama’s usual standards—Dippre remained optimistic. He emphasized that the team still achieved a winning season and anticipates further growth under DeBoer’s leadership.
Looking ahead, Dippre believes Alabama’s offense may evolve, particularly at the tight end position. He suggested a shift towards a more pass-oriented, spread offense, indicating that future tight ends might play a more significant role in the passing game.
As Dippre embarks on his professional career, his reflections provide valuable perspective on the Crimson Tide’s adaptability and resilience during periods of transition.
