Juventus’ Italian winger Federico Chiesa finds himself in the middle of transfer speculation as alongside Liverpool, even Aston Villa join the race to sign the 25-year-old.
According to Sky Italia via ECHO, Liverpool will need to fend off interest from the Birmingham-based club. Unai Emery’s side remain ‘willing to put aside’ a sum worth €60m in their pursuit of the former Fiorentina man.
Liverpool have emerged as a potential destination for Chiesa in the last few weeks. Manager Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of the player and has made that public information on multiple occasions as well.
Chiesa is an extremely versatile player who can play anywhere along the front line as well as a #10 behind the striker. Having said that, his attributes best come to use when utilised on the flank, and on the left-hand side specifically.
As a right-footer, he tends to cut inside onto his powerful foot and take a chance at goal or create scoring opportunities for his teammates. He can obviously play down the right flank as well, but Liverpool have a history of playing inverted wingers.
The threat of Aston Villa will surely loom over the Reds’ heads in their pursuit of Chiesa. Hopefully, we can match Juventus’ ask for their player and get him on board as soon as possible if the interest is genuine.
Liverpool need someone to back Mohamed Salah up down the right wing. Chiesa could take that upon himself in case he decides to move to Merseyside.
