Bayern Munich are reportedly keen to sell Benjamin Pavard as soon as possible, with Liverpool one of the sides interested in signing the defender.

According to Bild, the Bundesliga champions are eager to offload the French international after the player informed Bayern that he wanted to leave for a new challenge this summer. And Liverpool are one of a handful of top clubs interested in landing Pavard

As per the report, FC Barcelona, AC Milan and Inter Milan are also chasing Pavard. And with the defender’s contract with Bayern expiring in 2024, there’s good reason why the German giants are open to selling the 27-year-old this summer rather than lose him for free next year.

Lauded as ‘world-class’ by former Bayern manager Niko Kovac, Pavard’s versatility to play as a centre-back and a right-back has rightly made the defender a prized asset for top European clubs, and Liverpool will be well aware of Bayern’s latest stance on the Frenchman.

Indeed, the Reds could hit the jackpot with Pavard if they can beat out the likes of Barcelona and Inter to the defender’s signature. And with Bayern now keen to sell the former VfB Stuttgart man, Liverpool could soon be in the ideal position to sign the 27-year-old.

Pavard leaving Bayern could prove to be one of the most important transfers of the summer window depending on which club wins the race for the defender, and for Liverpool, they should be doing all they can to ensure they are that side who claims the Bundesliga champions’ signature.

As we know, Pavard fills a hole in Liverpool’s squad that no player in Europe can come close to plugging up, and with Bayern now open to selling the Frenchman, a deal should be on Jurgen Klopp’s agenda before a rival team makes a swoop for the 27-year-old.
