BBC Confirmed: Leeds United 1 QPR 0 Late drama and red card as Whites bounce back from setback…..

After losing to Queens Park Rangers in overtime at Elland Road on Wednesday night in the Championship, Leeds United defeated them 1-0 to avenge their loss at Southampton on Saturday.

Leeds dominated the first half, and Crysencio Summerville gave the Whites the lead in the ninth minute following outstanding work from Georginio Rutter.

Sam Byram’s pressure caused a QPR backpass to be missed on the touchline, allowing Rutter to take advantage of the situation and advance on goal before finding Summerville, who was unmarked in the middle of the box, for a simple but effective finish.

The Whites should have doubled their advantage three minutes later through Joe Rodon who sent a diving header from close range wide when free from a Summerville corner.

After being set up by another Rutter cross and receiving a strong assist from Jaidon Anthony on his full Whites debut, Summerville was only denied a second goal by a point-back Jake Clarke-Salter block.

The pacy Sinclair Armstrong was sent running down the right wing by a long ball, giving QPR their finest opportunity, but his attempt from a tight angle was deflected out for a throw.

After the break, QPR posed a greater danger, but Illan Meslier successfully stopped a hard shot from Ilias Chair, the first Hoops attempt

Patrick Bamford and Dan James were subsequently introduced as Joel Piroe and the impressive Jaidon Anthony were dropped.

Asmir Begovic had to make a superb stop to push Bamford’s low shot wide after being sent through by another fantastic Rutter ball.

Following a Bamford knockdown, Pascal Struijk scooped the ball over the bar from close range, wasting a fantastic opportunity.
