Leeds United have reached an agreement with Rangers for a deal to sign wantaway international midfielder Glen Kamara, according to Four Lads Had A Dream.
The Ibrox-affliated blog, who are an official media partner of Rangers, reported on Twitter on Thursday (31 August) that the Scottish Premiership side will receive £5million for Kamara plus promotion-related add-ons as well as a sell-on clause.
A deal is “not completed yet” as Kamara has to decide if he wants to make the move to Elland Road after he was frozen out of Michael Beale’s side.
While Leeds have looked strong in midfield at the time this season, the signing of Kamara will bring in needed dynamism and experience in their bid to earn promotion.
Having spent his last seven seasons in Scotland, with Dundee and the Gers, Kamara may relish the chance to return to English football and be a part of a promotion-chasing outfit.
While dropping to a second-tier side may not always be appealing to a recent European finalist, Leeds have high expectations of immediate promotion back to the Premier League.
Kamara’s time at Rangers did not end well and he was frozen out of the side by Beale. He has been training alone since his intention to leave was made clear and is yet to make a competitive appearance this season.
While it may take some time before he returns to full-match fitness, Farke will be very keen to integrate the title-winning midfielder into his side.
The deal itself looks like a bargain too. £5million could prove a steal if Kamara has the desired impact in the Championship, while Rangers themselves may benefit from a future Leeds promotion or if they sell Kamara.
While the deal is not quite over the line, Leeds fans may soon be celebrating their latest midfielder signing.
