BBC Confirmed: Leeds United suffer Wilfried Gnonto ligament injury ruled out of action after last game….

Leeds United forward Wilfried Gnonto has been ruled out of action with a lateral ankle ligament injury according to Daniel Farke.

The Italian only lasted 21 minutes against Hull City on Wednesday night before being taken off. The player tangled with Hull City defender Scott Twine, and afterwards felt some discomfort. The bench was signaled and he was assessed before being substituted. Gnonto has scored one goal so far this season, in Leeds’ 4-3 win away to Ipswich Town.

This is what Leeds boss Daniel Farke said on Gnonto:

“Sadly bad news with him. He’s done his lateral ankle ligament. We wait for the assessment this afternoon. He’ll definitely not be available tomorrow.

According to The Athletic, Leeds United are awaiting a full assessment of the ankle injury before any steps are taken. Gnonto joins Djed Spence on the sidelines, the Spurs loanee was also diagnosed with a knee injury which could keep him out for up to eight weeks.

Former Leeds defender believes Wilfried Gnonto will look back on this summer and will regret his actions.

The 19-year old sat out games and refused to train as he reportedly looked to force a move from Elland Road. However, in a spectacular turn of events, the Italian forward apologized to the Leeds heirachy and coach Daniel Farke before returning to the first team.

Since his return, Gnonto has already been in great form, scoring in The Whites’ first away game of the season. Newsome believes what happened this summer will be a learning curve for the player

What happened in the past has happened in the past. Is it forgivable? It takes a lot of time and a long way before he will be forgiven and it won’t be forgotten.” he said speaking to BBC Radio Leeds via Inside Futbol

The manager dealt with it really well and the kid is 19 years old, he had some terrible advice, he acted upon that advice and he saw the error of his ways and he has apologised. He gets a second chance but he won’t get a third chance and I think that’s the right way of going about it.

“He will live with it and learn, I am sure in a few years to come, he will look back and cringe at what he did. He has got to go out and got to put those performances in and I thought he was good today.
