ATLANTA — After renegotiating Chris Sale’s contract, the Atlanta Braves announced a two-year, $38 million agreement. Sale was acquired from the Boston Red Sox last weekend.

His previous contract, which called for a $27.5 million salary this year with $10 million deferred until 2039, is replaced by this one, which also includes a $18 million club option for 2026.

The seven-time All Star essentially commits to at least two seasons instead of just one with the Braves in exchange for an additional $10.5 million in guaranteed money that doesn’t require waiting for a deferred payment.

Sale, 34, is expected to earn $22 million in 2025 in addition to $16 million this season.
