BBC NEWS: England’s Owen Farrell has reply when quizzed on Rugby World Cup scrap with SA rival….

When Andros Townsend entered the game as a substitute in Luton Town’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest, he made his debut for the team. However, there was something unusual about the name on the back of his shirt that day.

The 32-year-old winger, who was released by Everton in the summer, just signed a short-term contract with the Hatters that runs through January.

He was on trial at Burnley, another Premier League newbie, after leaving Goodison Park, and there had been a chance he might sign a contract with the Clarets after making appearances for Vincent Kompany’s team during the pre-season.

Townsend was no longer included in the Lancashire club’s plans, though, as the Turf Moor team signed further reinforcements in the wide areas, meaning that trade ultimately did not materialize.

Townsend, a former Tottenham winger, has been a Sky Sports pundit since the beginning of the season while he looked for a new team.

Townsend made his Hatters debut in the 2-2 draw against Forest at the City Ground, and he now has a deal with Kenilworth Road through January.

After Chris Wood scored twice to put the home team ahead by two goals, Chiedozie Ogbene cut the lead in half and Elijah Adebayo’s late goal secured a share of the spoils.

Townsend played almost 20 minutes and was present for both of Luton’s goals after coming off the bench in the second half against Forest.

But the winger wore a slightly different name on the back of his shirt when he entered the game than he had previously, adding “sr.” to his surname.

Naturally, “senior” is the acronym used to refer to the four-year-old son of the former England star, Andros, who is therefore considered “junior.”

A nice touch from the winger with his shirt name.
