Surprisingly, 21 years later, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is still capable of playing at a high level. He is approaching the end of his career.
James has had an incredible career, becoming the league’s all-time top scorer last season. The four-time champion is now trying to bolster his record by winning one or two more titles. After making it to the Western Conference Finals, Los Angeles could win their 18th championship as soon as possible.
His popularity has also not decreased, despite the fact that James has had to deal with attention all of his basketball playing career—even going back to his time at St. Vincent-St. Mary’s. Wearing purple and gold, the Ohio native is the symbol that he is.
It’s also important to note that the Lakers are the league’s best-selling team when it comes to memorabilia, which is not surprising given that they are one of the most well-liked teams in sports.
Given his short career in the league, it is somewhat remarkable that James is still in the top few jersey sales. Despite all of the honors, LeBron will always be remembered as the greatest player of all time because of his extraordinary career.
It would be interesting to watch if James’s sales are surpassed by the new faces of the league, such as Devin Booker, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, and Luka Doncic, as long as he plays in the league. However, it is remarkable that the Lakers player has managed to maintain this ridiculous fame for 21 seasons and counting.
LeBron James thanks fans for voting him All-Star starter
LeBron James’ popularity was further demonstrated by the fact that he was selected as a starter in this year’s All-Star voting. Having received the most votes—second only to Antetokounmpo—he was also selected the captain of the Western Conference team.
James has now been named an All-Star 20 times, making him the only player in NBA history to do so. Not only that, but he has also been named a starter for 20 years running.
James thanked his supporters for voting for him again after learning of the accolade, but he also deserves some recognition for having another fantastic season with the Lakers.
