BBC News: Journalist Shared update about VAR comment on Leeds United winning goal against Bristol City…..

Graham Smyth was wowed by Leeds United’s excellent combination play for the Whites’ game-winning goal against Bristol City.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist (8 October) waxed lyrical about Leeds’ second goal, where Georginio Rutter, Glen Kamara and Joel Piroe combined to make the goal that sealed all three points as the Dutchman’s “surgical” finish ended the move.

Leeds added to their midweek win against QPR to secure a 2-1 Elland Road win against the Robins to secure themselves as promotion pushers in 5th place in the Championship table.

Smyth wrote: “Rutter was involved, starting the move down near his own corner flag. A combination of breakneck speed and patience took leads up the right, through the middle and out to the left before coming back inside where Kamara laid the ball on and Piroe, in the very place Farke wants him, shot home with surgical precision.”

Chemistry

This Leeds squad seem to have truly started ticking now and the combination play produced by Daniel Farke’s men will be very encouraging for the Elland Road faithful.

Smyth does not mention Crysencio Summerville in the buildup, whose pace and power proved too much for the Bristol defence. Ethan Ampadu was composed to lay the ball off to Kamara, who left the chance on a plate for Piroe.

Piroe’s finish was truly excellent. He kept the ball close to his feet but created the space to get the shot away from outside the box. With five Championship goals to his name now, he is emerging as Farke’s main man in this Leeds United side.

Last season, the squad looked devoid of much chemistry. They struggled to create good chances as relegation looked more and more likely. While the quality of opposition has dropped, the squad that Farke has built seems to be a quality team unit, with areas of the whole starting 11 combining to get the goals.

Smyth was right to have been impressed by this move, and the Elland Road faithful can expect more of this for the rest of the season.
