Dejounte Murray and Zach LaVine have been the Lakers’ most talked-about possible trade targets thus far. It is reported that front office staffers have been manning the phones in an effort to improve the team before the trade deadline.
However, an NBA insider is now advising the team to take a totally different approach.
However, there isn’t a store with thirty guys available if I’m Rob Pelinka. However, Tim MacMahon of ESPN stated on Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective this week that it’s not just LaVine or Dejounte Murray.
“I’m calling Charlotte to ask about Terry Rozier, or at the very least to see if he could be available for a much cheaper price. Because in my opinion, that guy would provide you with a lot of what you need at a lower cost. Even though he is averaging 23 points per game, it’s not the big splash. Simply put, because the Hornets are so [bad], nobody is aware of that.
Rozier is definitely not getting enough attention in Charlotte, as McMahon correctly points out. That’s even though he recorded career-high averages of 24 points and 6.8 assists per game.
Rozier would certainly add some much-needed shooting to the Lakers. His 37 per cent three-point shooting this season is higher than all but three Lakers players, and that’s despite attempting 7.8 threes per game.
Rozier is also averaging 8.5 points per game in the fourth quarter, the second-most in the NBA behind Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Hornets guard is in the second year of a four-year, $96 million contract. He is owed $23.2 million this season, which would make him cheaper than LaVine (40.1 million) but more expensive than Murray (18.2 million).
