Bronny James is inching closer to a return to the basketball court. If he passes a medical examination later this month, he’s likely to return to action this season, his father, LeBron James said Monday night.
Following the Lakers’ 108-107 defeat to the Miami Heat, the elder James stated, “Things are going in the right direction with Bronny’s progress.” “He’s in recovery. He gets to accomplish more and more and more every single week. At the end of this month, we have a critical opportunity to determine if we can move forward. If he gets approved, it won’t be too long before he resumes practicing on the court with his teammates in anticipation of returning to the court to participate in games.

During the summer, Bronny James experienced a heart attack. He was the second player at USC to experience a heart attack during practice in as many years. Additionally, last summer, center Vincent Iwuchukwu had a heart arrest that kept him out of action for the first two months of the Trojans’ campaign. In the end, Iwuchukwu made his Pac-12 debut for USC against Colorado in January.
If everything goes well with Bronny’s recovery, he could return to action around the same time this season.
“Everything is on the up and up,” LeBron James said. “We’re proud of his progress; we’re proud of his strength. And between all the doctors that he’s seen from everywhere he’s been—all his [physical therapy] people, USC included, and everybody else—they’ve done a hell of a job of getting him to the point today, and we want to continue to go forward.”
