In the summer of 2022, the 26-year-old midfielder joined Leeds for £10.6 million from Bayern Munich as Leeds sought to reinvest in their team after losing Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City in a £42 million deal.
While Roca had a promising start with Leeds United, he soon discovered that it was tough to make an impact in the Premier League since the squad struggled to produce success and changed managers frequently. After three years in the top division and with Roca among those under fire from irate fans, Leeds eventually said a meek goodbye to their Premier League position.
As a result, it wasn’t shocking when the ex-Espanyol player made use of a contract provision that let him leave Leeds in the event of relegation. And on July 17, just 50 days after Leeds’ relegation was officially announced, Roca found himself back in Spain after signing a season-long loan with Real Betis.
Since returning to his native country, Roca has participated in each of the club’s nine games. On Sunday, Roca scored the club’s first goal against Valencia, 3-0, at Benito Villamarin Stadium.
Marc Roca wants to finalize Leeds’ departure.
With the Spanish game being far more suited to his style, it is obvious that Roca has adapted swiftly to his new environment. In fact, he frequently struggled in games and was unable to have as much of an impact on games in the Premier League as he can in LaLiga.
According to recent reports from Spain, Roca has stated his desire to make the transition permanent.
Even while his contract does not include a provision to make the change permanent, there is a good possibility that discussions will begin to do just that. Since Roca has had such an influence, Betis may decide to wrap up an agreement sooner than they had originally anticipated.
