Leeds United’s head of medicine and performance Rob Price has told the club’s podcast Stuart Dallas missed two days with a fractured foot in 2018 – saying he is one of the toughest he has come across.
It is approaching 17 months since 32-year-old Dallas last played for Leeds, fracturing his femur against Manchester City during a challenge with Jack Grealish. But, he has now returned to training at Leeds.
Following the update that the Northern Irishman is back in training at Thorp Arch, Leeds fans are now excited that the versatile ace could return to action in the near future. But patience is key with Dallas.
Price stresses that, but also explains how Dallas is one of the “toughest” he has seen – using his 2018 injury as an example. He says it was one of the reasons Dallas played so regularly under Marcelo Bielsa.

“I don’t think anyone has dealt with the injury that Stu had before. We’ve got to be clear, this is still part of rehab. Back in training doesn’t mean he’s available for selection. Need to build up volume of training.
One of the toughest players we’ve come across. He actually had a fracture in his foot, he missed two days. That kind of player, can block out pain. Probably why he played so many games under Marcelo.”
Price: Dallas missed two days with fracture back in 2018
Incredible. Imagine breaking your foot and coming back for rehab in the space of 48 hours. But that is the level of commitment and bravery that are seen in Dallas’ performances. He will be like a new signing.
He missed two months worth of games with that injury. This time around, he has missed a whole lot more but hopefully, he will be able to add to the 267 games he has played in a Leeds shirt very soon.
