BBC NEWS: Liverpool set bid for 26-year-old Championship player and set emergency medicals…..

Liverpool could reportedly consider a move for Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi if they are unable to sign Cheick Doucoure from Crystal Palace.

According to the Independent, the 26-year-old is under consideration at Anfield with Liverpool looking to make one more midfield signing before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Doucoure has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool, but Palace’s reported £80m valuation could prove to be an issue for the Reds, who could now move to Ndidi.

Relegated with Leicester last season from the Premier League, the Nigerian international was once considered one of the best and most exciting defensive midfielders in all of Europe with the Foxes.

However, Ndidi’s reputation has plummeted massively in recent years alongside Leicester’s standing in English football, though Liverpool are seemingly still interested.

Indeed, with Liverpool in need of defensive midfield depth, Ndidi wouldn’t be too bad a signing as cover for Wataru Endo, with the 26-year-old also experienced in Europe.

Ndidi could actually be a good signing for Liverpool

Liverpool are no strangers to signing players who have been recently relegated to the Championship, with Andy Robertson arguably the Anfield’s greatest transfer success in the 21st century.

And whilst Ndidi wouldn’t be anywhere near such a title, the midfielder could add a lot of value to Liverpool’s squad in a position where Jurgen Klopp needs more numbers.

With Leicester open to selling, Ndidi could be signing for cheap, with Liverpool a club that could get the best out of the Nigerian international despite his drop in quality in recent years.
