BBC NEWS: Rangers are set to spend £17 million on a forward to replace Abdallah, who has nine goals and thirteen assists.

Rangers are looking at Fluminense forward Jhon Arias but face competition from Premier League clubs such a West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Wolves. 

That is according to TEAMtalk, the publication pointing out that the Liverpool linked Andre Trindade – who only this week explained why he turned down a £26 million summer move to Anfield – is not the only Fluminense player likely to be in high demand during the winter window.

Arias, a right-winger with quick reflexes and smooth movement who plays with the ball like it’s stuck to his foot with military-grade adhesive, leads Fluminense in scoring this season with nine goals and thirteen assists. The Brazilian league runs from April to December.

Is Arias the answer to the Rangers’ long-standing right-wing issues? Maybe, but a lot of teams from below the border have more budgets than Philippe Clement’s team has. However, the Rangers’ alleged interest could mean that the Glasgow giants are already planning backup plans in case Abdallah Sima’s services cannot be secured. Due to his recent success, teams throughout the continent are taking notice of the Brighton loanee.
