Rangers have agreed terms with Nils Koppen to become the club’s new Director of Football Recruitment, subject to a work permit being granted.
The Gers announced in a statement on their website on Friday (1 December) that the 38-year-old will join the club on 2 January from PSV Eindhoven, where he was previously Head of Scouting.
It added that he will be tasked with ensuring the Light Blues have a “thriving player trading model” as well as leading the recently revamped scouting setup at the Rangers Training Centre.
“I’m excited to be joining a highly esteemed team like Rangers in a pivotal role for the team’s offensive approach,” said Koppen. “As the CEO and Chairman have both stated recently, we need to improve and more reliably implement our player trading model.
“I’m excited to collaborate with the club’s current scouting team to make sure we meet our objectives in the upcoming years.
This is more proof that Rangers are trying to improve their recruiting in the upcoming years by moving forward in the background.
Previously, Koppen had a prominent position at PSV, where it was evident from their match against the Gers earlier this season that they had added some top-notch players.
With the appointment, the “men’s football board,” which consists of manager Philippe Clement and chairman John Bennett, is complete. This board will oversee some of the most important decisions to be made at Ibrox.
