BBC News : Ryan Gravenberch Set to clear Liverpool debut over Aston Villa defeat in the ahead match..

Ryan Gravenberch has trained with his new Liverpool team-mates for the first time today after completing a deadline day transfer from Bayern Munich.

The Netherlands international joined the Reds in a deal worth up to £40m on Friday night, and is now free to start his Liverpool career after being granted a work permit and after all the necessary paperwork around his transfer was processed.

However, despite now linking up with the Reds at the AXA Training Centre, he will not be eligible to feature for Liverpool in Sunday’s clash with Aston Villa at Anfield.

The club would have needed to have completed the midfielder’s transfer by midday on Friday for the 21-year-old to be available to face Villa. As a result, supporters will have to wait until after the international break to get their first glimpse of Jurgen Klopp’s latest signing.

Consequently, Gravenberch’s first match after signing for Liverpool will likely be for Netherlands Under-21s after he was included in their latest squad for the start of their 2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification campaign.

Although a full international, capped 11 times by the senior Dutch side, the midfielder remains eligible for the U21s and represented them in this summer’s European Championships in Romania and Georgia.

Netherlands Under-21s open their campaign at home to Moldova on September 8 in Waalwijk, before facing North Macedonia in Skopje on September 12. Gravenberch will then report back to the AXA Training Centre and prepare for a potential Liverpool debut.

The Reds return to action away at Wolves in the 12.30pm kick-off on Saturday 16 September, before travelling to LASK for their first Europa League group-stage game on Thursday 21 September. Liverpool will then host West Ham United on Sunday 24 September for what may be Gravenberch’s Anfield debut.

While supporters will have to wait to see the 21-year-old make his maiden home appearance for the club as a result, he is at least likely to be in attendance at Anfield on Sunday, watching on from the sidelines as his new team-mates lock horns with Aston Villa.
