Boulaye Dia will be fined by Salernitana, following his ‘bad’ reaction to his failed transfer to Wolves on deadline day.
Wanderers made an attempt to sign the striker late on August 31.
So a deal stood to go through on deadline day.
Apparently it was a loan offer with an obligation to buy. The obligation to buy clause was one that angered sporting director Morgan De Sanctis.
De Santics publicly called Wolves out for their late pursuit of Dia, stating that the Italian club would not forget it moving forwards.
Dia actually wanted the move and did not react well when Salernitana stood firm…
Boulaye Dia set to be fined by Salernitana after reaction to failed Wolves move
Dia will now be fined by Salernitana.
President Danilo Iervolino has been speaking about the Senegal international, and has informed what will happen now, after he was left out of the squad against Lecce.
He said (quoted by Football Italia): “He will be fined, but then welcomed back in. He heard the calls from the Premier League and perhaps wanted to follow them. These things happen in football. I will speak personally to the player.
“We never intend to suffocate the ambitions of our young players. We invested a great deal in him and I am convinced he will get over it.
“Salernitana are a professional club that has to be taken seriously, that loves and protects its players. We are kind, but we also have rules that are the same for everyone.”
Wolves must try again in January to sign Boulaye Dia
It could be difficult for Wolves to sign Dia in January. Clearly, Salernitana were not happy with the club’s pursuit of the striker last week.
But Wanderers ought to renew their efforts to sign him regardless. Especially if there is still a struggle to score goals.
Dia seemed to want the move to Molineux.
So the club will hold on to that and perhaps feel he is worth pursuing again.
The words of Salernitana’s president will definitely encourage Wolves following De Sanctis’ rant.
