BBC NEWS: The 26-year-old is proving himself to be an excellent signing to Leeds United, as the club has officially confirmed the player’s permanent signing.

Neil Redfearn believes the signing of Joe Rodon has proved to be an ‘astute’ piece of business by Leeds United.

Rodon was once again in superb form for Leeds as they picked up a seventh consecutive home win with a 3-2 victory over Middlesbrough.

Despite Boro going down to 10 men in the second half, the away side had arguably the best chance to find that elusive sixth goal, but for an incredible block by Rodon.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds, Redfearn says Rodon complements Pascal Struijk very well at centre-back and believes the partnership is continuing to blossom.

Struijk was perhaps not at his best for Leeds today, but when the man alongside him performs to the level he did, you can get away with it more at this level.

Despite Leeds having conceded two goals, Redfearn was full of praise for both of the centre-backs and is impressed with the understanding they now have.

He said: “Excellent. I think the pair of them are really good. I think Rodon was a really astute signing. Pascal Struijk probably had it a little bit tough in the Premier League like most of the back line did because the levels demand that. But he’s blossomed into a very good player.

According to Football London journalist Alasdair Gold, Leeds will be looking to make Rodon’s deal a permanent one in the next few months, which is a no brainer.

Without his heroic block in the second half, Leeds may well have come away from Elland Road with just a point, which would’ve been a shocking result having been 3-1 up.

Leeds were linked to a host of centre-backs in the summer but they may well have just landed on the perfect one in Rodon, as he continues to get better and better.
