BBC NEWS: The Cowboys have officially received Jimmy Johnson back.

As of late, Jimmy Johnson and the Dallas Cowboys have been heavily focusing on their reconciliation. Together with owner and general manager Jerry Jones, Johnson helped lead the team to two Super Bowl victories, which culminated in their highly publicized breakup in the early 1990s.

When Jones inducted Johnson into the team’s coveted Ring of Honor during halftime of the Week 17 matchup against the Detroit Lions in 2023, the long-standing rift was resolved. The two are now on speaking terms, regardless of whether their constant claims that there were no hard feelings were genuine or just the sound of a hatchet being buried.

According to Johnson, to say that they’re just on speaking terms might be an understatement.

An hour after his loss to Green Bay, Johnson continued, “we were talking on the phone, and he was talking about what all he needed to do because he had big decisions on Mike McCarthy, Dan Quinn, and Dak Prescott.” “Now everything is going smoothly. I’m back with the Dallas Cowboys.”

Considering his contractual obligation to broadcast, it’s unlikely that you’ll receive official confirmation that Johnson is back in the organization in any capacity, but that doesn’t mean he can’t lend an old friend of his a sympathetic ear and share his thoughts about the team with Jones.

After listening to Johnson’s remarks regarding the Cowboys owner prior to the ceremony, it seemed like a logical next step in their development.

He described his time with Jones during their dynasty as “the two of us were working around the clock, together.” “People are unaware of the connection [between us]. Jerry and I used to talk every day back then. I would spend all day in his office. Many people find it surprising that we never really disagreed because we were always in agreement.

And I think that part of the tension that existed at the end of my career with the Cowboys stemmed from the fact that we were too busy splitting up to communicate as much. Jerry will always hold a special place in my heart.
