BBC NEWS: The New York Mets have just acquired an experienced utilityman in a trade with the Red Sox.

According to the MLB.com transactions wire, the Mets have acquired utilityman Pablo Reyes from the Red Sox for monetary considerations. At the end of April, Reyes was marked for assignment; nevertheless, he cleared waivers and was sent straight to Boston’s Triple-A affiliate.

Reyes signed a minor league contract with the Brewers in January 2021, when Stearns was still in head of Milwaukee’s front office. This is the second time that Reyes has been acquired by the Mets, thanks to the efforts of David Stearns, president of baseball operations. Before moving to Boston in 2021–2022, Reyes participated in 58 MLB games for the Brew Crew, with a brief stint with the As in between.

Reyes has appeared in six of the previous seven MLB seasons and is batting.249/.309/.349 in 572 major league plate appearances (an 80-game PED suspension kept Reyes off the field altogether in 2020). In just the previous season, Reyes amassed a career-high 185 plate appearances as a member of the Sox’s rotating.
