BBC NEWS: Update on Nottingham Forest’s FFP commission while Everton’s point deduction is reduced

Despite rumours that Nottingham Forest was interested in signing him, custodian Jack Butland has stated that he had no intention of leaving Rangers in January.

For the second half of the season, Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos were originally supposed to remain the Reds’ top two players. When Forest made changes to their goalkeeping staff last summer, the two were hired to long-term contracts.

But both had made several mistakes, and Forest had reconsidered about fortifying between the posts near the conclusion of the January window. On the day of the deadline, they signed Matz Sels after having a number of possible targets on their list.

“While the club is still digesting the appeal board’s decision, we are satisfied our appeal has resulted in a reduction in the points sanction,” Everton said in a statement following the Premier League’s confirmation of the lowered sanction.

“From what we understand, the appeal board deemed the initial 10-point deduction to be unwarranted when compared to the benchmarks that the club provided to the commission, such as the position under the applicable EFL regulations and the nine-point deduction that the Premier League imposes in the event of insolvency.

The appeal board’s decision to reverse the original commission’s conclusion that the club did not behave in the best interests of good faith has also made the club very happy. For the club on appeal, that ruling and the reduction of the points deduction constituted a crucial matter of principle. As a result, the club believes that it was right to pursue its appeal.

“The club is completely committed to cooperating with the Premier League in respect of the continuing actions brought for the accounting period ending in June 2023, notwithstanding the judgement of the appeal board and the favourable outcome.
