BBC NEWS:Rangers handed Europa League boost as Sparta Prague captain and star man Ladislav Krejci ruled out

The revelation that Ladislav Krejci, the captain of Sparta Prague, is out due to injury has given Rangers a boost ahead of their match this week.

This Thursday, the Gers will host the Czech team at Ibrox in a Europa League match as they attempt to advance past the group stages. A mysterious injury has sidelined Sparta’s captain, Krejci, who is also their talisman and will miss the match.

Although manager Brian Priske has not disclosed the nature of the problem to the public, he has acknowledged that he would be without his star player when he faces Philippe Clement. Since representing the Czech Republic against the Faroe Islands last month, the 24-year-old has vanished from sight.

Priske said: “Every player that we can’t use and is unavailable due to injury, we miss. At the moment we are without Ladislav Krejci.

“We are all aware of Ladislav’s abilities, but he is just not available right now. However, that is football.

Rangers secured a 0-0 draw in Prague, and with a perfect record under Clement, they will be optimistic about winning a crucial three points on Thursday since the group is evenly matched.
