Liverpool claimed another Premier League win as the Reds eased past Aston Villa in a 3-0 win at Anfield.

Here’s how Jurgen Klopp’s side performed in what could prove to be a massive win as the league season begins to pick up steam.

Defence

Alisson Becker: 8 – A quiet first half was met with an impressive showing after the restart, with Alisson Becker pulling off a world-class save early on in the second half to keep Liverpool’s clean sheet intact.

Trent Alexander-Arnold: 7 – Once again pushed out onto the wing, Trent Alexander-Arnold impressed greatly against Aston Villa’s narrow formation, with the England international getting plenty of space to cause problems.

Joe Gomez: 6 – Got away with a bad touch 32 minutes in that could have got Aston Villa back into the match, but poor finishing from the visitors kept Joe Gomez from suffering another hounding from fans.

Joe Matip: 6 – Could have added Liverpool a third in the opening half but was comfortable at the back, with Joel Matip not having much to do against a toothless Aston Villa attack.

Andy Robertson: 7 – As defensively sound a performance one could get from Andy Robertson. The Scottish superstar let few problems run their course, and the fullback enjoyed a comfortable performance against Aston Villa.

Midfield

Dominik Szoboszlai: 8 – Opened his account for Liverpool in stunning fashion with the opening goal of the match. Dominik Szoboszlai has arguably been the player of the season for the Reds, and the youngster again ran the show today.

Curtis Jones: 7 – Starting in the defensive midfield role, Curtis Jones looked as assured as he has in the role, with Aston Villa’s tactics simply not enough to break down Jurgen Klopp’s well-setup midfield at Anfield.

Alexis Mac Allister: 6 – An unusual game for the Argentine international as Alexis Mac Allister was deployed in a much deeper role, something that worked but might have thrown off some Liverpool fans given the midfielder’s attacking talents.

Attack

Mohamed Salah: 8 – The man of the moment amid ongoing Saudi Arabia transfer interest, Mohamed Salah will be pleased with his performance today, with the Anfield faithful full of love for the 31-year-old superstar as the winger wrapped up the win with the final goal of the day.

Darwin Nunez: 7 – Whilst not on the scoresheet, Darwin Nunez’s one-two off the post with Matty Cash saw the Aston Villa man fire the ball into his own net as well as assisting Mohamed Salah’s second-half tap-in, with the Liverpool no. 9 causing Unai Emery’s side problems all game.

Luis Diaz: 5 – Despite starting the season with a bang, the £50m Colombian international will be frustrated with his performance today, with Luis Diaz failing to create much despite Aston Villa’s laziness at the back.

Subs

Harvey Elliott: 6 – A lively cameo for the England U-21 international and could have a fair shout at starting later this month when the Premier League returns.

Jarell Quansah: 6 – Came on in the final 20 minutes and was again imperious in defence. Jarell Quansah has gained quite the reputation behind the scenes at Liverpool, and the youngster impressed today on his Anfield debut.
