Jack Harrison has finally spoken about his decision to leave Leeds United on loan in a post-match chat with the Liverpool Echo – having joined Everton, but also staged talks over to a move to Aston Villa.
Harrison, 26, left Leeds in the summer, taking advantage of the relegation loan clause included in his contract to join Everton. The Englishman was linked with a number of Premier League clubs, though.
Injury hampered his start to life at Everton but on Wednesday, he finally made his breakthrough under Sean Dyche. He started in a Carabao Cup win over Villa – the team that The Echo say he also spoke to.
The winger was asked about his move to Goodison Park from Leeds, which sees our £11m signing join the Toffees without a permanent option. He said there is a lot to discuss but now, is not the right time.
“There is a long story behind it. I have to sit down and explain it properly, I don’t want to say anything out of turn. It was a complicated situation and in the end I ended up at Everton and I was happy to go there.”
It will be interesting to see what happens and what is said, when Harrison feels the time is right to speak about his exit. There does seem to be a bit that has gone on behind the scenes that fans do not know.
Will he be a success at Everton? It does feel like a surprise move, joining a side threatened with the drop and Harrison is just going to a club that have been in the same place as Leeds, over the last two years.
