Nottingham Forest made a shock announcement before last night’s 1-1 draw with Burnley, involving Giulian Biancone. It certainly caught Brennan Johnson by surprise and he’s reacted on Instagram.
The Reds were expected to let the French defender go out on loan to Olympiacos. Given the radio silence since the transfer window closed in Greece, it was unclear whether it’d gone through.
Yesterday, however, some clarity came from the club and it did provide a surprise. Biancone is joining Olympiacos from Forest but it’s been announced that the player has now been sold to the Greek outfit.
The young defender only played three times for the Reds during his 13 months at the club. It goes without saying that rupturing his ACL clearly hampered his progress and the club have now decided to move him on.
Biancone seemed like a good character around the Forest dressing room. The 23-year-old was with the team towards the end of last season and could often be found on the pitch celebrating with the players following positive results.
Forest made shock Biancone announcement
This does come as a huge surprise. It was expected that Biancone would head away from Forest and play some football but it was anticipated that given his age, he would only be loaned out.
Biancone has reacted on Instagram after his departure. Brennan Johnson left Forest on deadline day and he was the first to offer his congratulations, saying: “Good luck brother.
Clearly, the player was popular in the dressing room among his teammates. Alex Mighten and Taiwo Awoniyi also congratulated him with both players sharing wordless posts.
Steve Cooper obviously didn’t fancy Biancone ever making an impact at Forest. As a result, the club have done well to get him offloaded, with sister club Olympiacos willing to take him on.
