Leeds United will be keenly awaiting news coming out of Everton after the Daily Mail reported the disciplinary hearing over alleged financial fair play breaches began in secret on 18 October.
The hearing was set to take place on 25 October, but meetings have been held already, and Leeds and the 49ers will be waiting for an outcome alongside Burnley and Leicester City in preparation for a reported £300million legal claim [Daily Mail, 3 October].
That report shared a letter had been sent to Everton regarding a possible lawsuit for the three clubs to claim back £100million each, totalled from their loss of earnings upon their relegation from the Premier League.
The report in the Daily Mail claimed that the three clubs involved are unhappy that charges over possible financial breaches were not brought forward last season, and that they feel Everton benefited from the delay, where a possible points deduction would have seen them relegated.
If the investigation and subsequent hearing over the alleged FFP breaches return with their verdict that Everton are guilty, Leeds have expressed their belief that the Merseyside club cheated their way into Premier League survival.
As a result, legal teams from all three clubs will be paying close attention to the ongoing situation, with the hearing having started a week earlier than the scheduled date, and news could arrive at their doors soon.
