BBC Report: Leeds United coach finally pick incredib talented academy star doing better than Phil Hay…..

Leeds United are excited by the “incredibly talented” academy star Harry Gray, whose brother Archie has impressed this season, according to Phil Hay.

Archie Gray has broken into the Whites’ first team at only 17 years old, impressing both in midfield and even at right back as Leeds have begun the season well in the Championship, currently sitting fifth as they head into the October international break.

But it is his younger brother Harry who is also attracting plenty of attention in Yorkshire, in what could be an extension of the long-running connection between Leeds and the Gray family as the England Under-15 international is predicted to have a bright future.

Speaking on The Square Ball podcast on Monday (9 October) Hay said: “I mean, Harry [Gray] is another one that they’ve been talking about for a long time as looking incredibly talented, masses and masses of potential. I think the thing you’ve seen with Archie [Gray] is that he manages himself really well.

“He lives as a footballer needs to live these days. He seems like a proper professional even though he’s so young and he also seems driven to develop and get better which I suspect is in the Gray genes too.

Gray has been an absolute revelation since breaking into the Leeds first team this season and his display at right-back against Bristol City showed just how talented the 17-year-old is, thriving out of position to keep the usually very dangerous Sam Bell quiet.

Anyone who hadn’t ever seen him play before could have been forgiven for assuming that he was playing in his natural position as he took to the challenge like a duck to water and if his younger brother has anywhere near the same ability as Archie he will be a very successful player.

Every team wants to have a squad littered with their own academy talent as it is always more special to see one of your own wearing the shirt in front of a packed-out Elland Road and it would be truly incredible to have two brothers playing together in midfield for Leeds.

Assuming Harry Gray has the same work ethic and desire to succeed as his brother, you wouldn’t bet against seeing him lining up alongside the first team sooner rather than later and while at such a young age Harry is more than likely a way away from Farke’s side, what better role model is there for the academy star than his own brother.
