Willy Gnonto and Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen have reacted to Crysencio Summerville’s goal for Leeds United on Wednesday.
The two players were responding to Summerville’s Instagram post after he netted his second of the season in Leeds’ 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers.
The 21-year-old controlled Georginio Rutter’s through ball perfectly before steering a finish beyond Asmir Begovic to put Leeds ahead early on.
His goal ended up proving decisive in a game where Leeds were in control for much of it, yet no where near their best as seen against Watford two weeks ago.
Summerville had been searching for his goal since the opening day when his stoppage time equaliser rescued Leeds a 2-2 draw against Cardiff City.
Gnonto and Summerville have grown to become close friends at Leeds ever since the former’s arrival at Elland Road just over 12 months ago.
Maatsen, meanwhile, is an international teammate of Summerville with the U21s and knows himself what it takes to win promotion from the Championship, having done so with Burnley
Leeds will need Summerville to continue this type of form in the coming weeks, particularly in the absence of Gnonto through injury.
Against QPR, Summerville was not as electric as he was against the likes of Hull City and Watford, but there will be no complaints given he was the match winner.
His goal on Wednesday was his sixth as a first team player for Leeds and he will certainly have his eyes set on double figures in the Championship this season.
